Reading and following these guidelines will help avoid charges. As mentioned previously... INSPECT your books and report any damage that is beyond normal wear to the textbook department within 2 weeks to avoid being charged for it later. * * * DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIRS YOURSELF! * * * Your attempts at repairs will actually cause more severe damage, resulting in increased charges. COVER your books with a brown-bag cover, but DO NOT tape the cover to the book in any way. Stretchy cloth and self-stick covers are prohibited. They cause damage that you WILL be charged for. AVOID contact between books and food, liquids, puppies and young siblings. The condition of your books are YOUR responsibility. Any damages caused by the above, as well as any writing or drawing in, on, or around the edges of |
the book is NOT considered "normal" wear. It is considered intentional damage and you will be charged. Your name, written neatly once in the authorized location, is the ONLY exception (if you must doodle, keep a piece of paper inside just for that purpose). STORE your books in a secure place. DO NOT leave them in a classroom or unattended. If they disappear - its your cost (and they're not cheap). REPORT any damage immediately to the textbook department. There is no charge for PREVENTATIVE fixes. In many circumstances, early intervention minimizes further complications and can therefore avoid the charges for further damage. CLEAN UP and clean out your books before, not at, check in. Remove covers and all papers from between the pages. Any damages will be charged to your account after assessment, which could be delayed until checkout to the next student. |
